Building and Codes Administration » Building and Structural » » Codes and Regulations » Residential In-law / Accessory Apartments In-Law: The in-law apartment is subject to the following conditions: The in-law apartment shall not exceed 950 sf. Separate utility service connections shall not be allowed. Common access between units shall be provided. Structures exterior appearance and the entrances to the dwelling shall be consistent with a family residence. Where municipal sewer is not provided, the septic system shall meet requirements for the combined use. Use shall be by members of the immediate family or the principal owner-occupant of the dwelling. Accessory Apartments: To increase housing alternatives while maintaining neighborhood aesthetics and quality, one accessory apartment within a detached single family dwelling shall be permitted provided the following conditions are met:
Check the In-law Apartment Application Permits are issued 8:30-9:30 a.m. or 4:00-5:00 p.m. ONLY.
